High And Dry!

A small tinnie above the beach on Mele bay. When the tides are right and the Manguru are around, the boys from Mele will set their nets and hope for a big catch. Manguru is a small fish which can be eaten or is an excellent bait.

US Visit

A C17 from the McChord Air Force Base in Washington State visits Pt Vila as part of a humanitarian assistance programme throughout Asia and the Pacific.

Red Green and Blue

A coconut plantation at Undine Bay, once a thriving copra producing plantation which later turned to cattle when the copra price plumeted.

Heading out

A yacht under sail heads out across Mele Bay, in another 4 miles it will be in the Pacific Ocean.

Common yet stunning!

Also very common in the Pacific is the Hibiscus, often used to form hedges along the fence line.

Frangipani

Found commonly all over Port Vila is the humble yet striking Frangipani. This one is the common yellow variety, but it can be found in as many colours as you can imagine.

Evolutionary Genius

Just like a chameleon, Bobby the Australian Blue Cattle Dog alters her coat color to blend in with the bitumen road - yeah sure!

Kiwani Race Day 2007

This year saw a record crowd turn out for a fantastic event, with the usual Fasions On The Field, packed race card, and lots of corporate boxes. The weather was kind with a cool overcast day for most of the afternoon. Well done to all the Kiwanis involved.
Mid afternoon and the Pacific Blue jet makes a spectacular sight "on final" to the nearby airport.

A successful fishing trip in the second lagoon land a couple of juvenile Giant Trevally, later to be eaten for dinner. Young Sam was especially impressed with the catch and was definitely keen on the “Fillet and Release” program.
